Verbotap — where every child can write
Verbotap needs JavaScript to run. Please enable
JavaScript and reload this page.
Verbotap is a free writing app for young and struggling writers.
Students build a sentence by tapping words on the page instead of
spelling every word from scratch; Verbotap drops each word into the
page with the spacing, capital letters and punctuation already
correct, and reads the finished writing back aloud.
What it does
-
Tap-to-write word banks and guided sentences, with pictures on
cells.
-
Read-aloud text to speech for a word, a sentence, or a whole
document.
-
On-device next-word prediction and spell checking — no server sees
what a child writes.
-
Teacher mode for authoring, importing and exporting Library items.
- Print, plain-text and Word (.docx) export.
-
Six themes including high contrast, and seven reading fonts: Andika,
Lexend, OpenDyslexic, Atkinson Hyperlegible, Inter, Source Sans 3
and Literata.
Privacy
There is no backend, no account to create, no advertising and no
tracking. Documents and Library items are stored only in the browser
on the device that made them. Verbotap installs to the home screen and
works with no network connection at all.
